Cologne for Men

Joop cologne is one of those fragrances that seems to attract its lovers and haters.  I’m one of those people on the “love” side of the issue, but the purpose of this review is to present as many facts about Joop as possible so that you can make an informed buying decision to determine whether it’ll be the next cologne to be added to your collection.

Perhaps it’s the strength of the fragrance that polarizes people.  Joop cologne has a very strong, distinct smell, that many can recognize from halfway across the room.  If you don’t like to be that guy who stinks of cologne from a mile away, apply your Joop gently.  It all depends on how many sprays you apply, but 2-3 sprays should be more than enough.  I myself own a bottle and usually only spray once when I wear it, but I’ve never been a heavy cologne sprayer as it always seems to stick to my skin pretty well.

With that said, let’s take a look at the quick history of Joop cologne.  Believe it or not, it actually gets its name directly from its creator, German designer Wolfgang Joop.  During the 1980s, he had a successful line of fashion products that included clothes, shoes, and other accessories.  His line was so successful that he actually decided to trademark his last name, and was successfully able to.

It wasn’t until 1989 that the “Joop!” cologne product line was born.  Shortly after its release, it immediately became a hit in the fragrance world, and enjoyed success as one of the top selling colognes for quite a few years.  From there, spin off versions of the product were sold, including one known as “Joop! Jump”, and others.  However, it remains the original Joop in the pinkish box that remains the most successful cologne in the product line.

One mysterious aspect of Joop cologne is the fact that different people seem to think that it smells like different things.  No one can exactly pin down the smell of the fragrance.

What does Joop smell like?  Well, some people think that it smells musky, while other people believe there are spices and woods.  Then there are many who feel that it smells fruity – and among those who believe it smells fruity, there are some who believe that it smells like berries, and others who believe it smells citrusy.  Others even feel that it smells like grapes.

Whatever the case is, there’s one thing that’s clear.  Joop cologne for men is one of those fragrances that people recognize.  The cologne comes in a few different sizes, including:
